Bacchanalia
For Drunken Devil’s 2018 Halloween outing, I chose a non-traditional setting and theme: the court of Caligula in Ancient Rome. While most events highlighted the traditional ghouls and goblins of All Hallows’ Eve, our event featured a dark narrative brimming with intrigue, betrayal, and political backstabbing, all amongst Roman royalty.
Awash in blood-red lights, a Downtown LA photo studio was transformed into a decadent, brutalist version of Caesar’s palace, as guests engaged in an immersive narrative where they uncovered the beginnings of a political coup.
Craft sponsored cocktails, wine, and beer flowed freely from the tap; magicians and tarot readers roamed the ground; and internationally acclaimed burlesque stars wowed the crowds with a series of surreal performances. After the bloody finale, guests danced to dark disco and Halloween staples until the late hours, as a statue of Bacchus watched over the shadowy festivities.
