BLACK MAGICK
After taking Drunken Devil guests to Ancient Rome, Storyville, Hell, and even a cursed tiki bar in 1950’s Hollywood, I decided that it was time to explore a (very) popular time period: the Roaring Twenties! But of course, it had to be non-traditional, and so I devised an immersive experience set in Los Angeles, all about a cabal of magicians who were looking for their new leader.
Enter Apothic Wine, a brand that I had always wanted to partner with, with their new Sparkling Red wine – a perfect product to highlight in this type of experience. Guests entered a clandestine warehouse that I had transformed into a macabre, 1920’s-era speakeasy, where a mysterious story involving the occult unfolded around them. There were the traditional Drunken Devil highlights – burlesque performances, roaming magicians, a live five-piece jazz band, and an open bar featuring several other Apothic varietals. A secret room treated guests to a private, 10-minute magic show, where a character from Apotheca told tales of a mysterious wine that enchanted all those who consumed it (you guessed it – the Sparkling Red).
After a killer ending to the story, the lights dimmed and the mirror ball lit up as a DJ transformed the space into a dance party, where guests could shed the darkness of the storyline and revel into the early hours of the morning.
