CANTINA DEL DIABLO

Drunken Devil’s fourth summer soirée was a special one for me. Not only was it finally an storyline that paid homage to my Mexican heritage, but it was destined to be our final summer party (you can thank the pandemic for that!)

In Cantina del Diablo, audiences were transported to a turn-of-the-century cantina in Oaxaca, where they met Marisol Cortez, the bar’s resident entertainer, and member of an underground coven run by the bar’s owner. When a new ingenue threatened her status, Marisol went to great lengths to maintain her position — leading up to a bloody, shattering finale. Guests interacted with Marisol, various cantina barflies, and members of the coven, engaging them with an immersive narrative where they chose sides as they learned various characters’ intentions.

There was burlesque. There were fire dancers. There was free-flowing mezcal, photo installations, and all night disco. I’ll remember it fondly.
